For tilers and flooring contractors

Your rates, on a page that does the sum for them.

The same three questions arrive every week and none of them can be answered with one number: how big is the room, is it a bathroom, and is the floor coming up first. Each one needs a rate applied to a measurement, and you do that arithmetic in your head twenty times a month.

Answering by message means a paragraph of conditions that reads like small print. Answering with a flat number means being wrong in one direction or the other, and finding out which on the day.

What is missing is not a price list. It is somewhere the customer can put their own room in and get your arithmetic back, with the minimum and the extras already applied.

What went in.

A tiler's own rates, typed into a message, with the minimum charge and the bathroom extra.08:41

What came back.

A black and white page headed Tiling Cost Calculator, with a room-size stepper, room presets, a general room or bathroom toggle, and a quote breakdown showing 96 pounds at 48 per square metre, a 120 pound bathroom surcharge and a 134 pound minimum charge adjustment totalling 350 pounds.

A page that does the sum. Room size in, price out, the conditions applied on their side. It is live right now — open it and check.

What it will not do

Nine things, straight off the product’s own list. If one of them is what you need, this is the wrong tool and it is better to know now.

  • taking an owner's money, or putting more credit on their account
  • changing what an entry SAYS from the conversation, or rewriting a stranger's submission anywhere
  • deleting the account itself — wiping everything we hold about the owner and closing them down
  • cutting stills from a video longer than twenty minutes
  • an account or a login for anybody who is not the owner — a customer, a team-mate, a guest
  • a page that takes money from the people who open it — a checkout, a card field, a shopping basket
  • exporting a PDF
  • a second person editing the page itself
  • editing or cutting a video file

Questions tilers and flooring contractors ask

Does wiwi actually calculate, or is it a picture of a calculator?

wiwi writes the working code. The tiling page above is live and you can put your own room size into it right now: the rate, the minimum charge and the bathroom surcharge are applied on the page, and the total changes as the number does.

How does a tiler set the rates without a spreadsheet?

You type them into WhatsApp the way you would say them out loud — a rate per square metre, a minimum, and what a bathroom adds. wiwi turns that sentence into the arithmetic, and a tiler changes any of the three later by sending another message.

Can the customer send their measurements back?

Yes. wiwi can put a form under the calculator asking for the room, the floor and the date, and what they fill in arrives on WhatsApp. A tiler then knows the size before quoting rather than after the first visit.

Does the page work on a phone?

Every page wiwi builds is made on a phone and read on one. The tiling calculator above is the same page a customer opens from a text message, and a tiler can check it on site by opening the link they sent.

Send it the thing you keep explaining.

The photos still sitting in the thread. The video nobody has watched. The price list you have typed out four times this month.
